A door that sticks, drags, won't latch or swings open on its own is almost never about the door itself. It is the frame, the hinges, the strike plate, or the house moving on Sacramento clay soil. Replacing the slab without fixing the cause just gets you a new door with the same problem.
She was ready to spend almost $500 on a new door. I had other plans. That happens more often than you'd think.

The casing around the door
Fixing a frame usually means the casing comes off, and it has to go back on tight — mitres cut to the angle the opening actually has, not the 45 degrees it is supposed to have. That comes with the door job.

The small stuff nobody wants to come out for
Door stops, closers, deadbolts, handle sets, cabinet hinges, closet doors that jumped their track. One item is still a job. There's no four-hour minimum here.

Straight answers
- My door only sticks in summer. Is that fixable?
- Usually yes. Seasonal sticking is expansion plus a frame that has moved. It can normally be corrected with hinge adjustment and a small amount of planing rather than a new door.
- Can you hang a barn door on any wall?
- Not any wall. The track needs solid backing behind the drywall. If the studs aren't where the track needs them, I add a header board — that's a normal part of the job, not an upsell.
- Do you install doors I bought myself?
- Yes. Send me a photo of the opening and the door you're looking at before you buy it, and I'll tell you whether it fits.
